WALTON APPOINTED TOWN MANAGER
At its regular meeting on May 12, 2025, Hertford Town Council appointed Doris Walton as the town manager elevating her from interim status. Walton has been employed by the Town since January 2023 and was appointed assistant manager a year later. She became interim town manager November 1, 2024 upon the resignation of Town Manager Janice McKenzie Cole. Prior to coming to Hertford, Walton worked five years with Elizabeth City Manager Rich Olson. Walton is a graduate of Adelphi University. She has completed the UNC School of Government Municipal/County Administrative course, which is an eight-month flagship program for aspiring city and county managers. She has also completed the Professional Development Academy, a national leadership program designed by General Colin Powell.
