Hertford receives Golden Leaf Grant for Jennie's Gut Improvements

The Town of Hertford was awarded a grant for $650,600 for improvements to the Jennie’s Gut Drainage by the Golden Leaf Foundation.  The Hyde Park Street entrance to Cedarwood Cemetery experiences flooding during moderate rain events due to undersized culverts which trap sediment and debris causing the Jennie’s Gut tributary to back up with water flooding the road.  Public Works Director Dave Forsythe says, “these grant funds will be used for engineering and construction to upsize the culvert under Hyde Park Street.  Households, public/private entities in the immediate area and all users of the road including school buses will benefit from this project.
